Game status: Daniel Jones is INACTIVE, which means Colt McCoy will get the start vs. the Browns.
Saturday status update: Colt McCoy will get the start against the Browns, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Jones couldn’t get his ankle/hamstring combo injury right this week.
New York Giants signal-caller Daniel Jones returned from an ankle injury for his team’s Week 14 game against the Arizona Cardinals but is in danger of missing more time. Joe Judge told reporters Wednesday that Jones sprained his ankle on Sunday and that his status for this weekend’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns is up in the air.
Jones ranks 21st in passing yards and 32nd in passing touchdowns so far this season and has been challenged in his sophomore season. While he’s been far from elite he’s a significant upgrade from Colt McCoy, who put up a mediocre 105 passing yards with one touchdown and a pick in the Giants’ Week 13 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
While Wayne Gallman has been exceptional since taking over the starting running back spot the Browns’ defensive line has been one of the best in the league at stopping the run. McCoy couldn’t get things going against arguably the worst secondary in the NFL the last time he started, so don't expect much from him this weekend.
