Fantasy Football analysis: Raiders QB Derek Carr
Even during what could very well end up being the most productive season of his career, Carr is still difficult to figure out. He can look great against the Chiefs, then face plant against the Falcons. He was awesome for most of the first half against a good Colts defense last week before stalling out time after time near the goal line in the final two-plus quarters. His pick-six in the fourth didn’t help matters either. Ultimately, Carr left fantasy owners with a useful 28.8 DraftKings points, although that was inflated by a junk-time rushing touchdown with under a minute to play.
The Chargers’ defense is not a leviathan, but they have allowed only four passing TDs in their previous four games. Since Drew Lock picked up 248 passing yards against them in Week 8, the Chargers have held all quarterbacks under that number. That includes Carr, who completed 13 of 23 throws for 165 yards and two scores versus L.A. in Week 9. He also lost a fumble.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Carr’s volatile performances from week to week leave him as only a sketchy QB2 in this matchup. He costs $5,500 on DraftKings. He could be totally worth that price if he plays the way he’s capable. He could also bust, which he is capable of doing, too.
