Fangio: Broncos expect to be without kicker Brandon McManus in Week 15 due to Covid-19

The Broncos may need a new kicker for Week 15. We break down the fantasy football implications.

The Denver Broncos expect to be without kicker Brandon McManus for their Week 15 game against the Buffalo Bills in Saturday. McManus was placed on the Covid-19 IR list as a high-risk, close contact, which requires a five-day absence. Head coach Vic Fangio said the one-day shorter game week likely means McManus will not be available to kick, per Ryan O’Halloran.

McManus ranks 11th among kickers, but the high ranking comes primarily from back-to-back huge performances around the Broncos bye earlier this season. He had 18 points against the Jets in Week 4 and then 24 points against the Patriots in Week 6. He has not reached double digit points since Week 9.

If McManus does not clear the Covid-19 protocol for Saturday, former XFL kicker Taylor Russolino would get promoted from the practice squad. The Bills rank in the middle of the pack for total points allowed, but rank ninth for fantasy points allowed to kickers.
