Friday PM update: Sean Payton told the media the plan is for Brees to start on Sunday vs. the Chiefs.
The New Orleans Saints are expecting a huge piece of their offense back in Week 15. Quarterback Drew Brees is expected to start on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Brees suffered numerous broken ribs and a partially collapsed in Week 10 against the San Francisco 49ers and was placed on injured reserve. He was designated for return to practice this week, opening up a 21-day window to get him back. It appears that will now be happening.
Taysom Hill replaced him as the starter and will head back to his utility role. The Saints were 3-1 in Hill’s four starts in place of Brees. In that time, Hill completed 71.9 percent of his passes for 834 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. The Saints have clinched a playoff spot, and at 10-3 hold a two-game lead on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC South with three games to go.
