Taila Santos will take on Gillian Robertson in a flyweight match for UFC Fight Night on Saturday, live from Las Vegas and available on ESPN+.
Santos heads to the octagon with a professional record of 16-1, winning her last fight by unanimous decision against Molly McCann at UFC Fight Night 172 in July. It marked her first UFC win, as she’s 1-1 going into Saturday’s bout. She was scheduled to fight Montana De La Rosa on December 2, but the fight was cancelled due to a positive COVID-19 test in De La Rosa’s camp.
Before being promoted to the UFC, Santos had won 15 consecutive fights — 10 by knockout. In her two UFC fights, she has connected on just 36 percent of strikes including landing 2.40 significant strikes per-minute, yet absorbing 5.07 of them per-minute. She defends 64 percent of significant strikes and 75 percent of opposing takedown attempts.
Robertson enters the APEX as the 13th-ranked flyweight in the division and on a two-fight win streak. She has a professional record of 9-4, as six of her last eight wins have come via submission. Her most recent win came by unanimous decision, defeating Poliana Botelho at UFC Fight Night 180 in October. Robertson averages 3.44 takedowns per 15 minutes, with a 1.29 submission average in the same span. She lands 2.18 significant strikes per-minute, absorbing 2.75 significant strikes per-minute and defending them at 54 percent.
