Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Brandon Allen won’t be able to play this week due to a knee injury, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Allen didn’t practice all week after suffering a knee injury against Dallas, but the team did hold out hope that he would be able to go against the Steelers.

Allen was starting because first overall pick Joe Burrow had a season-ending injury and it hadn’t been going all that well. He averaged just 168 yards passing in three starts, with three touchdown passes to two interceptions.

Allen’s replacement, Finley, was Burrow’s direct backup when he was injured against Washington and also came in for Allen when he was also injured. So far he’s thrown two interceptions, no touchdowns and taken seven sacks on 19 pass attempts in those relief appearances.

And in three starts last season, he completed just 47 percent of his passes for two touchdowns and two interceptions while taking 11 sacks. For his short career he’s taken saccks on over 14 percent of his drop backs. And after two straight losses, the Steelers will be in get right mode against poor Mr. Finley.
