Houston Texans running back David Johnson has been designated to return from injured reserve, per the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson. Johnson will now have 21 days to be activated to the roster.
Johnson suffered a concussion in Week 9 and was sent to injured reserve. Since he has been designated to return, it would seem plausible that he will be ready to go sooner than later, as he must have been cleared of his concussion. We will need to get some practice reports from beat reports, as he won’t be listed on the injury report since he has yet to be activated. But, if he appears to be a full-go, there is a good chance he will return this week against the Colts.
If he does return this week, Duke Johnson will again take a back seat to Johnson. With Romeo Crennel taking over for Bill O’Brien, there is a chance Johnson and Johnson split work more evenly, but that would be pure speculation.
