Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Ronald Jones II will likely not be able to play this weekend, opening up opportunities for Leonard Fournette and LeSean McCoy on Sunday. If you are deciding what to do with the Tampa Bay backfield, let’s take a closer look.
Fantasy Football analysis: Bucs RBs Leonard Fournette, LeSean McCoy
Jones was questionable for this weekend’s game after surgery on a broken finger, but he found himself on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Fournette was a healthy scratch in Tampa Bay’s 26-14 victory over the Minnesota Vikings last weekend, and Jones rushed for 80 yards on 18 carries with a touchdown. McCoy carried the ball four times for 32 yards.
Tampa Bay will have a matchup with the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, and they’ve actually been fairly good against the run, allowing 108.8 yards per game on the ground, which is 10th in the NFL. In its last time out, Atlanta allowed Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler to go for 79 yards on 15 carries. As a team, the Chargers rushed for four yards per carry.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
If Jones is unable to go, Fournette is the only player in the Tampa Bay backfield worth starting, and he can safely be used as a No. 3 running back in this matchup.
