What to do with Drew Brees in Week 15 of the fantasy football playoffs

We go over the fantasy football outlook of Drew Brees ahead of the Saints Week 15 matchup against the Chiefs.

With both teams eyeing the top-seed in their respective conferences, Drew Brees returns to action after a four-week absence in the Saints’ Week 15 matchup against the Chiefs.

Fantasy Football analysis: Drew Brees

After returning to practice on Wednesday, Saints quarterback Drew Brees looks to be in line to make his first start in five games after missing time with 11 broken ribs and a punctured lung. Clearly, even after quarterback Taysom Hill led New Orleans to a 3-1 record in Brees’ absence, the 41-year-old has had to look healthy enough to come back with just three regular season games left and the team in the hunt for the top seed in the NFC.

After seeing what rookie Tua Tagovailoa was able to do against the Chiefs last week (316 yards, 3 total TDs, 27.04 fantasy points), Brees poses a challenge this week. Before his injury in Week 10’s game, Brees had just three games of more than 20 points, reaching a season-best 22.68-point performance in Week 9. Brees is also going to be without top wideout Michael Thomas, who was ruled out on Friday with an ankle injury.

Kansas City has given up 24 or more points in four of its last five games, including 31 to the Panthers and 27 last week to the Dolphins, two teams either in the bottom half of the league or close to it offensively. Given how consistent the Saints have been on offense even with Hill as the starter since Week 10, it’s safe to say Brees has a ceiling of around 18-21 fantasy points this week. He’s thrown two or more touchdowns in six games, averaging 19.90 points in such games. The Chiefs have allowed opposing quarterbacks to pass for two or more scores in seven of their last nine games.
