What to do with Cam Newton in Week 15 of the fantasy football playoffs

We go over the fantasy football outlook of Cam Newton ahead of the Patriots Week 15 matchup against the Dolphins.

This season has been a mixed bag of results for New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton. Newton has games where he looks like his old self and then there’s game, where he looks completely lost, which happened in Week 14 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Can the former league MVP return to form against the Dolphins? And if so, should he warrant a spot in your fantasy football team? Let’s answer those questions below.

Fantasy Football analysis: Patriots QB Cam Newton

Last week’s game against the Los Angeles Rams was a bad game for the entire New England Patriots team. They could not stop Rams rookie running back Cam Akers on the defensive end. And offensively, Newton and Co. could not sustain or put together a scoring drive.

Newton was 9-of-16 for 119 yards, zero touchdowns, two interceptions, and 21 rushing yards. One of his interceptions was returned for a touchdown by Rams linebacker Kenny Young, which was a perfect microcosm of Newton’s season. The veteran quarterback has not been a reliable QB1 play and is a borderline QB2 option.

On Sunday, Newton will be facing a Miami Dolphins’ defense that he had success against in Week 1. The dual-threat quarterback was 15-of-19 for 155 yards and recorded 75 rushing yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns. He went on to score 25.7 fantasy points.

That being said, I doubt Newton has that same success in Week 15 as the Dolphins are averaging 1.9 takeaways per game.
