Thanks to numerous injuries to the Patriots’ wide receiver unit throughout this season, second-year wideout Jakobi Meyers and Damiere Byrd have become quarterback Cam Newton top targets. Both wide receivers have had their great moments on the field and in fantasy football. Now can they rekindle it against the Dolphins on Sunday afternoon? Let’s break it down.
Fantasy Football analysis: Patriots WRs Jakobi Meyers, Damiere Byrd
For a short period of time, Meyers was tremendous value play in standard fantasy football and DFS as he was getting a healthy share of targets. Between Weeks 7-10, the 6-foot-2 wideout accumulated 27 receptions (37 targets) for 346 yards. Despite not scoring a touchdown in that span of time, Meyers was averaging 10.4 fantasy points, which is perfect a WR3/FLEX option.
In regards to Byrd, he had an impressive performance in Week 11 where he recorded six receptions (seven targets) for 132 yards and a touchdown. It was his best performance of the season.
On Sunday, both wide receivers will try to make some noise against Dolphins cornerbacks Byron Jones and Xavien Howard. This season, Miami’s defense has only allowed 10 touchdowns to opposing touchdowns, which is good for fifth in the NFL. But they given up receiving touchdowns in back-to-back games against the Chiefs and Bengals.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start — Jakobi Meyers as a WR4/FLEX
Sit — Damiere Byrd
