The Mississippi State Bulldogs and Tulsa Golden Hurricane will face off in the 2020 Armed Forces Bowl. The game will take place at the Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. Kickoff is currently scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, December 31st, and the game will air on ESPN and be available via live stream at WatchESPN.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs (3-7) are one of multiple teams under .500 and playing in a bowl game. MSU defeated Missouri 51-32 on Saturday thanks to the play of their defense and quarterback Will Rogers. They intercepted Missouri quarterback Connor Bazelak three times, and Rogers torched the Tigers’ defense for 295 yards, three touchdowns, with just one interception.
24th-ranked Tulsa (6-2) lost 27-24 to the ninth-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats in the AAC championship game on Saturday. The Hurricanes did their best to try to keep Bearcats quarterback Desmond Ridder from running all over them, but the quarterback still produced 269 passing yards, 83 rushing yards, and two total touchdowns. Offensively Tulsa leaned on their ground game, which had 166 yards and two scores. Running back Corey Taylor II was the game’s leading rusher with 102 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown.
Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense against the grinding style of Cincinnati, one of the nation’s best defensive teams, should make for a fun matchup in Fort Worth on New Year’s Eve.
