After only 70-plus days removed since the Los Angeles Lakers hoisted the Larry O’Brien trophy, the 2020-21 NBA regular season will tip-off on Tuesday night. There are two games on the schedule which features a bunch of stars on all four teams. In the first game, the Golden State Warriors take on the Brooklyn Nets at 7:10 p.m. ET. Then to end the night, defending champion Lakers will square off against their crosstown rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers at 10:10 p.m. ET.
That being said, it should be a fun night to watch hoops and to make it better, we are going to look at the spread and some players prop from each game. All the odds are coming from DraftKings SportsBook.
Golden State Warriors vs. Brooklyn Nets, 7:00 p.m. TNT
ATS Pick: Nets -7.5
This game features a few of the best players in the league and in world. One side you have Stephen Curry, who missed most of last season with a hand injury and will be looking to get the Warriors back to the playoffs. On the other side of the court, you have a brand new head coach in Steve Nash taking over a Brooklyn Nets squad that features a healthy Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
This game should be high-scoring and will be nice back-and-forth throughout. However, when I evaluate the spread, I like the Nets -7.5 because they have the better team right now and two legitimate scorers in Durant and Irving. If Draymond Green was playing on Tuesday night, I’d leaned towards the +7.5 for the Warriors. But since he’s likely out, it’s going to be up to maybe Andrew Wiggins or Kelly Oubre to help out Curry in the scoring department.
Player Prop: Andrew Wiggins over 17.5 points
For Golden State to keep this close heading into the fourth quarter, they are going to need Andrew Wiggins to be the second leading scorer. In his short stint with Golden State, the 25-year-old averaged 19.4 points per game on 45.7 percent shooting from the field and 33.9 percent shooting from three-point range.
The Warriors do not need Wiggins to be the three-point shooter that Curry or even Klay Thompson is. They need him to dominate in the mid-range game, which should help out other players on the floor.
