San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain and will go on injured reserve, per Niners Nation. This injury will keep Mostert out the last two games of the season, giving Jeff Wilson Jr., Jerrick McKinnon, and Tevin Coleman the running back work.
Wilson has been the lead back of late with Mostert in and out of the lineup and will continue take that role this week against the Cardinals. Wilson has 84 carries for 341 yard (4.1 yards per carry) for six touchdowns and nine receptions for 100 yards and another touchdown. He should be a useful fantasy play in Week 16.
Mostert had a tough season as he dealt with multiple injuries. When healthy, he was dynamic and a big play maker. On the season, Mostert averaged 5 yards per carry and scored three touchdowns on just 120 touches. There is a chance he will need offseason surgery.
