Thursday update: Carr got in another full practice and was removed from the final injury report.
Wednesday update: Derek Carr practiced in full on Wednesday in preparation for the Dolphins on Saturday, per The Athletic’s Tashan Reed. A full practice at this point almost guarantees him the start this week, but we will need to wait for official word.
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was able to get in a limited practice on Tuesday, per Vic Tafur. Carr injured his groin on Thursday night against the Chargers. He was replaced by Marcus Mariota who played well, but the team ended up losing.
Both Carr and Mariota got reps in practice and Jon Gruden said “we’ll see how it goes this week,” per Tafur. With a soft tissue injury like Carr’s, we’d want to see him get in a full practice, as a re-aggravation can be common.
Mariota finished as QB9 in Week 16. He rushed nine times for 88 yards and a touchdown and looked good doing so. The Raiders still have a slim chance to make the playoffs, but with the way Mariota played, I doubt they will rush Carr back if he’s not truly ready to return. If Mariota does end up playing, he has good fantasy upside sue to his rushing ability against the Dolphins.
