Quarterback rankings for Week 16 fantasy football

We take you through some of the best quarterbacks going in Week 16 for fantasy football, including a few viable streamers.

Friday injury report

Alex Smith is questionable to play against the Panthers. It would seem Smith is trending toward playing, but he isn’t 100 percent and there is a chance they go with Dewayne Haskins agains.

Daniel Jones appears to be on track to play this week against the Ravens. If healthy enough to be mobile, he’s an upgrade for the offense.

Out: Nick Mullens (right elbow)
Doubtful: N/A
Questionable: Matthew Stafford (rib, right thumb), Alex Smith (calf), Daniel Jones (hamstring, ankle)

Thursday injury report

Matthew Stafford is listed as questionable for Saturday after three straight limited practices. C.J. Beathard will start for the 49ers with Nick Mullens out.

DNP: Ben Roethlisberger (old)
Limited: Daniel Jones (ankle/hamstring), Alex Smith (calf), Brandon Allen (knee)
Full: Derek Carr (groin), Brandon Allen (knee), Philip Rivers (toe), Josh Allen (knee, ankle)

Wednesday injury report:

Alex Smith was limited on Wednesday, giving him a shot at returning this week against the Panthers.

Daniel Jones was limited and apparently looked good as he tries to return for the Giants game against the Ravens.

Brandon Allen returned to practice and got in a limited session. Ryan Finley would get the start against the Texans if Allen can’t go.

DNP: Ben Roethlisberger (old), Philip Rivers (toe)
Limited: Daniel Jones (ankle/hamstring), Alex Smith (calf), Brandon Allen (knee)
Full: Derek Carr (groin)

Josh Allen, Ryan Tannehill and rookie Jalen Hurts were the big fantasy quarterbacks for Week 15. Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert were on their tails, with each of the aforementioned players rushing for at least one touchdown. Rushing quarterbacks aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The return of Marcus Mariota was a good one, as he relieved the injured Derek Carr and finished as QB9 on the week. He rushed nine times for 88 yards and a touchdown and looked good doing so.

Russell Wilson is no longer a must-start as his numbers have taken a plunge and this week he goes against the Rams tough defense.

Injury news

Nick Mullens is out with an elbow injury and C.J. Beathard will take his place this week against the Arizona Cardinals.

Matthew Stafford appears likely to play this week against Tampa Bay but his practice reps will be managed with so many injuries.

Alex Smith has a shot to return this week against Carolina, but he’s no lock.

Streaming options

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Hurts is a Top 5 option at quarterback against Dallas this weekend. His upside is once again as QB1, so don’t overthink playing the guys that got you to the fantasy football championship.

Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears

Trubisky will likely implode at some point, but he’s playing well and gets a matchup with the hapless Jaguars, who really, really need to lose this game.
