How they got here
Coming off a bad offseason in the Iowa football program, the Hawkeyes lost each of their first two games trying to replace a three-year starter at quarterback. Instead of quitting on the season, Iowa rallied for six consecutive victories, finished off by a canceled game against Michigan during Champions Week to finish 6-2.
As for Missouri, it finished the season with a 5-5 record in the first season under Eli Drinkwitz. The Tigers rattled off three victories in a row before losing their last two to close out the season against Georgia and Mississippi State.
