The Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns close out a very exciting Wednesday slate in the NBA with the night cap on ESPN at 10:30 p.m. ET. We get to see some of the premier young talent in the NBA go head-to-head with MVP candidate Luka Doncic facing All-Star Devin Booker and potential All-Star Deandre Ayton. Oh yeah, and Chris Paul is also along for this ride. Here we’re going to look at the spread for the game and a player prop, making a few picks on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Dallas Mavericks at Phoenix Suns, 10:30 p.m. ET ESPN

ATS Pick: PHX -1

This is essentially a toss-up, so I’ll go with the team I think is deeper and more talented in the Suns. Phoenix added Paul to run the show. The Suns have Booker and Ayton, who both could end up being top 20 players this season. Monty Williams is a great coach. Nothing against Luka Doncic and Rick Carlisle. The Mavs just don’t have nearly as much talent as the Suns right now.

Phoenix also has some pretty quality wing defenders in Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder. I could see Bridges being tasked with trying to slow down Doncic in this game. I’d be more worried if the Mavericks had more depth down low with Kristaps Porzingis sidelined. This gives Ayton less to worry about on defense — not that we’ll see much defense in this game. If it’s a track meet, I’ll take the Suns playing at home with better depth.

Player Prop: Devin Booker O1.5 3-pointers (-182)

Chances are this line will only get higher, but even if you lay a unit or two, it’s basically going to be free money. With the high total up over 230 points, this game expects to have a ton of scoring and shot attempts. Booker should be in the range of 20-25 FG attempts and a good chunk should be from distance. The idea of him not draining more than one 3-pointer seems crazy. So while this isn’t the big time money-maker you were hoping for, it’s an easy way to build bankroll early on in the season.
