Kirk Cousins hasn’t been a high-upside play, but he has provided fantasy managers a decent floor through the 2020 season. Can you trust him in a primetime matchup as you look to take home a title in your season-long leagues? We break down the analysis below.
Fantasy Football analysis: Vikings QB Kirk Cousins
Cousins has represented mid-tiered quarterbacks well in 2020, thanks in large part to the talented WR duo of Adam Thielen and rookie Justin Jefferson. He’s been solid for fantasy as the QB11 on the season, averaging 261 passing yards, 2.3 TDs and 0.4 INTs per game since the Vikings Week 7 bye. Though his floor is relatively safe considering his low turnover rate, Cousins’ ceiling is a bit lower in Week 16 considering the matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints defense has been stout on the season, holding opposing quarterbacks to an average of just 16.4 fantasy points per game. Mahomes just posted 254 passing yards and three scores against this unit, but don’t get too comfortable with the match up; prior to Week 15, the Saints hadn't allowed multiple passing touchdowns since Week 8 against the Bears.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Kirk Cousins as a high-end QB2 in superflex or two-quarterback leagues.
