Game day update: Tyler Boyd is officially out with a concussion, which could mean that the Bengals will look to establish the run. Bernard was hot last week and led the team with 25 attempts. ESPN projects him at 10.9 fantasy points for the day in a plus matchup.
After scorching the Steelers for 22.70 fantasy points in Week 15, Giovani Bernard has a solid floor going into a Week 16 matchup against a subpar Houston Texans defense.
Fantasy Football analysis: Bengals RBs Giovani Bernard, Trayveon Williams, Samaje Perine
Bernard, who’s most notably known for his pass-catching ability out of the backfield, had just one reception for 14 yards and a receiving touchdown, completely flipping the script on the ground. Bernard had 22.70 fantasy points — his second-highest of the year — adding on 25 carries for 83 yards and a rushing touchdown. The Texans have allowed opposing running backs to score 15 or more points in 12 of 14 games played, making Bernard a solid play this week.
After a season-high 12 rushing attempts in Week 14, Williams ran just twice for eight yards last week and wasn’t targeted once in the passing game.
Perine, much like Williams, tied for a season-high 10 rushing attempts in Week 14 and had just 14 yards on four rushes last week. It’s clear this is Bernard’s backfield for the remainder of the season.
