UPDATE 11:25 p.m.: Liberty kicked a 44-yard field goal to open overtime, while Coastal Carolina’s Massimo Biscardi, who had missed only one field goal in 2020, had his attempt blocked. Liberty hangs on for the 37-34 win.
With just seconds left, the ball on the two yard line, and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers out of timeouts in a 34-34 Cure Bowl, Liberty Flames head coach Hugh Freeze just wanted to run out the clock and kick a field goal for the win.
And yet, somehow, tight end Jerome Jackson didn’t get the memo, tried to push running back Joshua Mack into the end zone... and fumbled the football.
Instead of just kneeling, Liberty tries to run the ball....the RB tries to stop from getting in and one of his players pushes him from behind and causes him to fumble

The game is heading into overtime, and if Liberty loses this they will discuss this play forever in Lynchburg. Has a game ever been closer to being won, and then not actually won? It would be one thing if Liberty missed the sub-20 yard field goal, but to blow it like this is almost impossible.
If you have Coastal Carolina -6.5, which is how the game closed... you’re still in this thing. If you had Liberty, let’s hope it wasn’t on the moneyline.
