Cam Newton has been a popular fantasy option in past years but heading into the playoffs this week, you might want to find another signal-caller to lead your team.
Fantasy Football analysis: Patriots QB Cam Newton
Newton and the Patriots are literally playing for nothing as New England has already been eliminated from playoff contention. That’s a very odd thing to type. Even stranger, this week they take on the AFC East-leading Buffalo Bills, who are gunning to host a playoff game in Orchard Park. In the first meeting between these two teams, Newton didn’t fare too well, throwing for just 174 yards and no scores. He did hit the endzone on the ground but fumbled the ball with a chance for another.
The Bills defense is giving up just under 20 fantasy points per game to opposing QBs this season, but in recent weeks they’ve been playing much better, allowing under 300 total yards in two consecutive weeks.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
With the Bills defense getting hot and New England having nothing to play for, it likely won’t be a great outing for the Pats.
Sit him.
