Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards has been a key cog in their running game all season and it continued on Sunday afternoon in the team’s 27-13 victory over the New York Giants. Edwards was the game’s leading rusher with 85 yards on 15 carries, making it the second time in four weeks that he crossed the 80-yard threshold.
Unlike rookie J.K. Dobbins, who brings the speed and pass catching element to Baltimore’s rushing attack, Edwards is the power back. If they need three or five yards, he will usually get it without a problem. This season, the former Rutgers running back has had three double-digit fantasy football performances, with two happening in the last four games.
Edwards might be called on to play a larger role in Baltimore’s must-win game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Dobbins left Week 16 with a chest injury and we don’t know what’s the severity of said injury. If the rookie running back is limited in any way, Edwards could be a solid Week 17 pickup off of the waiver wire. Edwards is currently rostered in 40 percent of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.
