How Bears can clinch a playoff berth in Week 17

The Bears moved into the No. 7 seed thanks to Arizona’s Week 16 loss. We break down what the Bears need to do in Week 17 to clinch a spot in the 2021 NFL playoffs.

The Chicago Bears got a late Christmas present in Week 16 when the Cardinals lost to the 49ers. It allowed the Bears to climb ahead of them in the playoff race with their win over the Jaguars. Chicago faces a tough test when they host the Packers in Week 17, but they have a chance to clinch a wild card spot and punch their ticket into the 2021 NFL playoffs regardless.

The Bears can clinch a wild card berth if they beat the Packers or the Cardinals lose on the road to the Rams. If Chicago and Arizona both tie, the Bears get in. Chicago can claim either the No. 6 or No. 7 seed. If Chicago wins and the Rams win or tie, Chicago claims the No. 7 seed. If Chicago wins and the Rams lose, Chicago claims the No. 6 seed.

Chicago entered the 2020 season with +154 odds to earn a playoff berth at DraftKings Sportsbook. They had the third best odds in the NFC North at +380, behind the Packers (+180) and Vikings (+160).
