UPDATE: Dec. 29, 4:53 p.m. — The Grizzlies announced Morant suffered a Grade 2 ankle sprain in Monday’s win over the Nets and he will need 3-5 weeks to recover. This isn’t great news for the Grizzlies but it certainly could have been worse. There’s some info on the injury and what went down last night below. If you need some advice on who to replace Morant with in fantasy, head to the link below.
Memphis Grizzlies PG Ja Morant appeared to suffer a bad ankle injury in the second quarter of Monday’s game vs. the Brooklyn Nets. He was contesting a shot by Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot in the second and appeared to twist his ankle, hobbling to the sideline. He was then helped to the locker room without putting any pressure on the ankle.
Update: The Grizzlies managed to get their first win of the season, 116-111 in OT over the Nets despite losing Morant in the second quarter. Kyle Anderson had 28 points, Dillon Brooks had 24 points and Jonas Valanciunas had 14 points and 14 rebounds in the win. Tyus Jones filled in for Morant at PG and finished with 9 points, 4 assists and 5 rebounds in 35 minutes.
Update: Morant underwent X-Rays, which showed no fracture in the ankle, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. He will get MRI results back as soon as Tuesday.

Update: Morant will not return to Monday’s game due to an ankle injury. The team is saying it’s a sprain, so that’s good news. It may not be season threatening. Morant returned to the bench in the fourth quarter wearing a boot on his left foot. Here’s a video via @TrashTalk_fr on Twitter:

Morant had 7 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds in 13 minutes prior to suffering the injury. The reigning NBA Rookie of the Year entered the game averaging 36 points and 8 assists in two games this season. The Grizzlies are already down Jaren Jackson Jr., so if this injury is serious, it could be a death blow to Memphis’ season. We can only hope for everyone’s sake that Morant is OK and this isn’t serious. After Morant left, the Nets went on a run and lead 55-54 at halftime.
This is tough to watch. Morant being taken to the locker room in a wheelchair. Please tell me he’s OK ...

Morant won’t be back in this game tonight. Tyus Jones will start the second half in place of Morant. We also could see some more ball-handler duties or Grayson Allen. It’s impossible to replace a talent like Morant, but the Grizzlies may have no choice.
