The Los Angeles Rams will be without Jared Goff for a big Week 17 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Goff’s backup, John Wolford will get the start and Blake Bortles has been signed off of the Broncos practice squad to backup Wolford.
The Rams have two shots to make the playoffs on Sunday. The first is to beat the Cardinals and the second, if they lose, is for the Packers to beat the Bears. Green Bay is currently favored by 5.5 points, so the odds are in the Rams favor.
Wolford is in his second season, but did start in the now defunct Alliance of American Football. He had a strong performance in the AAF, as he completed 130 of 206 passes for 1,617 yards, 14 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a QB rating of 95.9.
The last time the Rams and Cardinals faced off, Los Angeles won 38-28 and held the Cardinals to 3.7 yards per play and picked Kyler Murray off for a pick-six in the process. Their defense will likely need to step up again.
