How and what to watch for Louisiana Tech vs. North Texas

After a full month between games, Louisiana Tech will finally get back on the field on Thursday night against North Texas.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are set to get college football’s Week 14 slate started when they travel to take on the North Texas Mean Green on Thursday, Dec. 3.

Louisiana Tech had to replace a lot from last year’s team that finished with 10 wins and closed out the season with a win over Miami in the Independence Bowl. The Bulldogs check in with a 4-3 overall including 3-2 in Conference USA play. Louisiana Tech has really struggled to get the ball moving offensively, ranking No. 123 among 127 teams in yards per play. The Bulldogs have been slightly better at passing than rushing, but their offense has been a struggle all year long with a middle-of-the-road defensive unit. They have seen a recent string of COVID-19 issues with their previous game taking place on Halloween night, a 37-34 win over UAB. This is currently scheduled to be the final regular season game for Louisiana Tech.

On the other side, North Texas has a 3-4 overall record including 2-3 in Conference USA. The Mean Green are a successful unit offensively, ranking at No. 15 in yards per play on offense, but their defense is a different story. North Texas ranks 119th in yards per play allowed defensively. In its last time out, the Mean Green were handled fairly easily 49-17 against UTSA on Saturday. This is the final home game of the North Texas season.

Louisiana Tech won the last two meetings of this series, most recently a 52-17 home win in 2019.

The Best Bet

Louisiana Tech hasn’t played in a month, and they can’t score no matter who they’re playing. They won’t find a more forgiving defense than the Mean Green, but we’ll still ride with the home team because their Covid issues are just further behind them.

Pick: North Texas -1.5
