Wednesday update: Coach Rhule says that McCaffrey will not play this week, along with backup running back Mike Davis, per Joe Person.
On Monday, coach Matt Rhule said that he would “lean towards” Christian McCaffrey not playing against the Saints in the team’s finale, per ESPN’s David Newton. McCaffrey also won’t practice on Wednesday according to Newton.
This has been a lost season for the overall No. 1 fantasy pick. In his few games, he played up to his normal standards, but in the end, he was only able to play in three games due to ankle and quad injuries. In those three games, McCaffrey accumulated 17 receptions, 374 yards and six touchdowns. Those numbers are going to be hard to overlook when deciding on who to pick next season in the first round of fantasy football drafts.
This season, Alvin Kamara will go down as the overall top fantasy running back, while Dalvin Cook and Derrick Henry should come in at second and third. McCaffrey should once again be in the mix with those guys despite his lost 2020 season.
