Duke’s Mayo Bowl trophy breaks in locker room. Did Wisconsin try and eat it?

The glory and pageantry of a noon bowl game on a Wednesday was disrespected by the Badgers in a Charlotte locker room.

If there’s one thing the Duke’s Mayo Bowl stands for, it’s the honor of competing in the college football postseason. But that privilege was shamelessly mocked by a squad of Wisconsin Badgers following their 42-28 win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Wednesday afternoon in front of dozens of people at the traditional home of one of the great gathering places of the sport, Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

How these players, who fought so valiantly to force four second half turnovers to claim the glory of a bowl game with such a steep history, could so carelessly destroy what took several minutes for a bowl staffer to order on Amazon after their victory is almost unconscionable. Have they no respect for The Game that has given them so much (but not a salary because then how can we afford such wonderful trophies)?

There are no verified reports about which Badger is the reason for this indignity. Also no word if a player or players were attempting to coat their postgame sandwiches or meals with what they thought might have been an egg-based condiment contained inside is also unknown as of this writing.

UPDATE: We now know the guilty party, and it is five-star true freshman quarterback Graham Mertz! SHAME. SHAME. SHAME.
