Friday update: Mattison has been taken off the final injury report and should play this week against the Lions.

Thursday update: Mattison got in another limited practice on Thursday, per the injury report. He’ll likely be ready to go this Sunday if he can get cleared of his concussion.

Minnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison was able to practice on Wednesday, per The Star Tribunes’s Ben Goessling. Mattison missed last week’s game with a concussion and was limited in practice to start the week. He will likely continue to go through the concussion protocol this week, but appears to be on the right track.

Mattison’s status takes on a little more importance this week, as Dalvin Cook will not play this week after the passing of his father. If Mattison ends up being unable to play, Mike Boone and Ameer Abdullah would likely split work.

The matchup for whoever gets the nod to start for the Vikings is about as good as it gets, as they take on a poor Detroit Lions run defense. On the season, Detroit has given up the most fantasy points to running backs. On the season they’ve allowed 23 touchdowns to opposing running backs.
