The Green Bay Packers suffered a devastating loss in practice on Thursday as they prepare for their Week 17 matchup with the Chicago Bears. Left tackle David Bakhtiari suffered a torn ACL that will end his season a week before the playoffs begin, according to Ian Rapoport.
The Packers’ replacement options include moving tackles Billy Turner or Rick Wagner over. Similarly guard Elgton Jenkins is an option. Recently, Turner has moved inside to right guard and Wagner has played left tackle. The Packers have some versatile options, but losing an All-Pro like Bakhtiari is a tough pill to swallow.
Green Bay heads into Sunday’s regular season finale with a chance to clinch the No. 1 seed and home field advantage in the NFC side of the 2021 NFL playoff bracket. They would clinch the No. 1 seed with a win or a loss by the Seahawks. The bye would give them critical time to get their new left tackle further up to speed.
