Game day update: With Joe Mixon still on the shelf, Giovani Bernard will continue to get a majority of the touches in the Bengals’ backfield. Last week, Bernard struggled against the Giants, scoring 4.9 fantasy points. It was the third-straight week he failed to reach double digits. On Sunday, he’s facing a Dolphins’ defense that has allowed eight touchdowns and 18.6 fantasy points to opposing running backs. ESPN projects Bernard to score 9.5 fantasy points.
Giovani Bernard will be the main guy in the Bengals backfield for yet another week, as fantasy owners are beginning to wonder if Joe Mixon will ever see the field again this season. Bernard was performing well in Mixon’s absence prior to the team’s Week 9 Bye. Since then, Bernard has failed to reach double digits in carries or fantasy points in any given game. Is he worth considering for your lineups despite his recent poor performances? We break down the fantasy analysis below.
Fantasy Football analysis: Bengals RB Giovani Bernard
The Miami Dolphins are middle of the pack when it comes to defending the run. They have allowed the 14th most points to opposing fantasy backfields this season. Bernard will continue to remain a part of the game plan for the Bengals, though all skill position players on the team took a significant hit when Joe Burrow was lost for the season. Even so, Bernard should remain involved in both the rushing and passing game and should have a volume that allows him to enter into low end RB2 territory. Go ahead and insert him in your starting lineup this weekend against the Dolphins.
