Game day update: With D’Andre Swift not expected to play, Kerryon Johnson and Adrian Peterson will likely split work to a certain degree. ESPN projects Johnson with 10.2 points and Peterson with 8.7 points in PPR leagues. There’s some deeper league value, but the Bears run defense is solid enough that in smaller, traditional leagues, you likely have a better option on your bench.
Saturday update: The Lions listed D’Andre Swift as questionable for Week 13, but have since downgraded him to doubtful due to his illness. He is not likely to play on Sunday.
Friday practice update: The Lions sent D’Andre Swift home from practice on Friday due to his illness, per Chris Burke. Even though he is reportedly out of the concussion protocol, his status remains unclear for Sunday. OC Darrell Bevell said Swift could play on Sunday if he clears the illness, but he might be looking at a limited role given the missed time, per Kyle Meinke.
The Detroit Lions are in the bottom-half of the league offensively for the third consecutive season. With so much offensive uncertainty, the Lions’ running back group has been tough to predict. That doesn’t change this week.
Fantasy Football analysis: Lions RBs D’Andre Swift, Adrian Peterson
Last week’s 15-carry, two-touchdown outing was just the third time this season Peterson has scored more than 10 fantasy points this season. It was also the first time he’s surpassed 14.4 points since Week 1 against the Chicago Bear. Peterson also had just 55 yards rushing, his eighth consecutive game of 55 or less. He’s started each of the last two games since D’Andre Swift left Week 10’s game against the Washington Football Team with a concussion. It’s worth noting that game was also Swift’s first career start, which should tell you a bit about the direction in which the Lions might be looking to go with the position. Kerryon Johnson got 11 carries last week, too.
Swift has been out for the last two weeks, but it was announced Thursday that he was no longer in concussion protocol. He didn’t practice Thursday either, listed with an illness.
RB D’Andre Swift is no longer in concussion protocol following confirmation from an Independent Neurological Consultant. His practice participation designation for Thursday is currently “Illness/No Practice.” and its not related to COVID

Even if he was cleared to play, it’s impossible to determine how much time Swift would see on the field. When healthy this season, he had only played on more than 60 percent of offensive snaps twice.
I wouldn’t trust the Lions backfield this week against the Bears. Though they were gashed by the Green Bay Packers on the ground last week, this defensive unit has allowed just seven rushing touchdowns all season.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit both Adrian Peterson and D’Andre Swift.
