Game day update: Heading into a must-win game against the Rams, the Cardinals will need their running game to play an integral role. Veteran running back Kenyan Drake 207 yards on 49 carries and three touchdowns in Arizona’s last three games. Also, over that span of time, Drake has scored double-digit fantasy points in back-to-back games (12, 21.3).

This week, he’ll be facing a Rams defense that is only allowing 14.1 fantasy points per game and six rushing touchdowns to opposing running backs. LA’s defense has also only gave up one receiving touchdowns to running backs, which doesn't bode well for Cards RB Chase Edmonds. ESPN projects Drake, Edmonds to score 12.3 and 6.2 fantasy points, respectively.

Kenyan Drake has been on a roll since returning from his ankle injury while Chase Edmonds has played well, but lacks the workload for consistency. In Drake’s last three games since returning, he’s seen 57 touches to 27 for Edmonds. Edmonds is averaging 1.26 PPR points per touch to Drake’s 0.88, but that still has Drake averaging 16.7 toe Edmond’s 11.3 PPR points per game in that span.

Fantasy Football analysis: Cardinals RBs Kenyan Drake, Chase Edmonds

The Cardinals will take on the Los Angeles Rams and their stout run defense this week. The Rams rank fifth-best in fantasy points allowed to running backs. They haven’t allowed any back to top 100 yards and have given up just six rushing touchdowns and one receiving to the position through 11 games.

That kind of defensive production doesn’t allow for two running backs to give you startable fantasy numbers. So for this week, Edmonds should stay on your bench and Drake gets knocked down a bit in the rankings.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Start Drake as an RB2/flex. Sit Edmonds.
