The San Diego State Aztecs had more than a few days’ notice to prepare for the Colorado State Rams this weekend. Last week, San Diego State and Colorado finalized their matchup late in the week due to coronavirus cancellations.
San Diego State lost that game 20-10, but I’m not sure how much you can take from that performance in such a strange scenario. The road team has a pretty significant disadvantage in that situation I would imagine. After six games, the Aztecs stand at 3-3 and as you would imagine, it’s the defense that is getting the job done. San Diego State is No. 1 in all of college football in yards per play allowed, while the offense ranks 86th.
Likewise, Colorado State’s defense is the strongest unit on the field for the Rams, which haven’t played since since Nov. 12 with numerous cancellations. Colorado State has just a 1-2 record so far this season with two games left on its schedule. Though it’s a limited sample size compared to a lot of teams that have seen the field more often, Colorado State ranks No. 103 in yards per play offensively and 28th defensively despite giving up quite a high number of points, which can be misleading.
San Diego State won the previous meeting between these two teams with a 24-10 road win in 2019.

The Best Bet
Well, both offenses aren’t very good, and both defenses rank fairly well in college football. Sometimes it’s dangerous to follow the trends, but I don’t see the path where this game gets all that many points, so we’ll follow the history and take the under in this game. It’s no fun, but let’s root against points together. Three runs and a punt is what we’ll be cheering for all game long.
Pick: Under 47.5
