In his first season at the helm, Colorado head coach Karl Dorrell has exceeded expectations. The former Miami Dolphins assistant has the Buffaloes offense in the top 25 in overall success rate. That improvement has occurred despite losing longtime starting quarterback Steven Montez and the multi-positional Laviska Shenault Jr. to the NFL following the 2019 season. New starting signal-caller Sam Noyer and running back Jarek Broussard have taken up larger roles to fill the voids left by Montez and Shenault in the offense, and the duo poses a serious threat to a badly struggling Arizona defense.
But while the Wildcats have not managed to stop anyone this season, their offense has done little to carry the burden. The unit has produced just 37 points over the past two weeks, contributing to double-digit blowouts in both instances. Sophomore quarterback Grant Gunnell has shown promise, but neither his running game nor his receivers have done enough to help him.
A victory for Colorado would put the team in great position to compete for the Pac-12 South title. Conversely, Arizona just needs to notch a victory to ensure Sumlin remains in place for another week.

The Best Bet
Outside of a near upset of USC in the season opener — a game that said more about the Trojans than anything else — Arizona hasn’t played a competitive game. Meanwhile, Colorado has a chance at the Pac-12 South title and looks like a program on the rise after making a sound head-coaching hire.
Pick: Colorado -7.5
