The Washington Football Team is 2-1 with Alex Smith as their starter this season. However, they aren’t really winning because of Smith, who will have his hands full with the Pittsburgh Steelers this Monday.
Fantasy Football analysis: Washington QB Alex Smith
Smith had a 55-attempt, 390-yard game against Detroit a few weeks ago, but that’s not what Washington wants to do offensively. You’ve seen their preferred style of attack these past two weeks, both Washington victories: Fewer than 30 passes in each game, lots of short, high-percentage throws to keep the chains moving and emphasize the running game. Washington ran the ball on 56 percent of its snaps over those two weeks. Smith compiled one touchdown and fewer than 170 yards in each. Now, he has to meet a Steelers defense that has allowed two passing over its last four games and the fewest fantasy points per game to QBs.
