After a horrendous performance on Thanksgiving against the Houston Texans, Detroit Lions quarterback Lions will be looking to get back on track in a must-win game for the Chicago Bears.
Fantasy Football analysis: Lions QB Matthew Stafford
Last week, Stafford nor the Detroit Lions as a team played well in their 41-25 shellacking at home. It was ultimately the deciding factor in coach Matt Patricia’s firing. The veteran quarterback, who is still dealing with a nagging thumb injury, completed 28-of-42 passes for 295 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
The interception he threw was ugly and a perfect way to sum up his team’s performance versus the Texans. Despite the turnover, Stafford scored a respectable 16.1 fantasy points. But it is hard to see him do that again on Sunday as the Lions are without All-Pro wide receiver Kenny Golladay and D’Andre Swift.
When Stafford played the Bears in the regular season opener, he produced 16.2 fantasy points with a full complement of weapons. Fast forward to now and he’s down to Adrian Peterson, Danny Amendola, Marvin Jones Jr., Mohamed Sanu Sr., and T.J. Hockenson.
This season, the Bears’ defense is only allowing opposing quarterbacks to score 16.1 fantasy points per game. If Chicago takes Hockenson out of the game, it’s hard to believe that Stafford will put up numbers on Sunday.
