Sometime when a team decides to start a quarterback like Mike Glennon, the tight ends get a little bump in numbers because they act as kind of a safety valve for the iffy starter under center. Jacksonville tight end Tyler Eifert scored his first touchdown since Week 2 last week with Glennon making his Jaguars debut, and with Glennon getting another turn under center this week against the Vikings, it’s enough to wonder if that makes Eifert a decent starting option in fantasy.
Fantasy Football analysis: Jaguars TE Tyler Eifert
Eifert was targeted four times last week, and he caught three passes for just 16 yards and a score. It’s nothing to write home about, and this was without wide receivers D.J. Chark and Chris Conley active. With three different quarterbacks making starts this season for the Jags, he’s failed to top 50 yards in a game, making him dependent on the rare touchdown.
Minnesota’s given up four touchdowns to opposing tight ends this season, two in their last four games. However, their red zone defense has been rock solid over its last three games, holding opponents to touchdowns on 37.5 percent of red zone attempts. I’d leave Eifert on the wire this week.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit Tyler Eifert.
