It looks like we have a little clarity on the tight end situation for the Indianapolis Colts. For two whole weeks now, Trey Burton has had an edge over the others. It’s still probably not enough to make him a bona fide TE1—he’s pretty touchdown dependent—but it’s enough that he can be a decent option in fantasy lineups this week against Houston.
Fantasy Football analysis: Colts TE Trey Burton, Jack Doyle
Burton had three catches for 42 yards and a touchdown last week against the Titans. He scored the week before that as well. More tellingly, he’s now been targeted 11 times in his last two games, and is seeing an average of nearly five per game this season. Doyle scored back in Week 11, but he’s had just one catch and five targets in his last three games.
Houston has allowed four receiving touchdowns to tight ends this season, and just last week, T.J. Hockenson of the Lions had 89 yards against them. It’s a decent matchup for Burton as a TE2 or a fill-in option this week.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Trey Burton. Sit Jack Doyle.
