Things got about as bad as they could get for Jared Goff in Week 12, when he completed only 19 of 31 passes for 198 yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions, and one fumble. He finished with 3.02 fantasy points. It was a week both Goff and his fantasy owners would like to forget. Goff is averaging only 16.0 fantasy points per game this season, and it’s a rare occasion that fantasy owners can be confident in starting him in their lineups. Could this weekend be one of those rare occasions? We break down the fantasy analysis below.

Fantasy Football analysis: Rams QB Jared Goff

The Arizona Cardinals are a middling defense when it comes to opposing fantasy quarterbacks. They are neither a matchup to target or to avoid. Unfortunately for Goff, he is typically only viable as a fantasy starter in heavily favorable matchups, and even then he can tend to disappoint. No example is greater than his 10.48 point Week 10 performance against a Seattle defense that has allowed the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. Goff just can’t be counted on, even in the best matchups. It is for this reason that you should pass on starting him against a mediocre matchup. Keep him on the bench this week.
