fThe New England Patriots backfield has traditionally been one of the most difficult positions to figure out for fantasy owners. At this point, it appears to be a two-man show between Damien Harris and James White. Here’s a look at what fantasy owners should be doing with the New England backfield this weekend.
Fantasy Football analysis: Patriots RBs Damien Harris, James White
In the Patriots last game, a 20-17 road win over the Arizona Cardinals, Harris carried the ball 14 times for 47 yards, both of which led the team. However, White had the better fantasy day as he scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and finished with 18 yards on five carries. Usually more of a threat in the passing game, White caught his lone target and lost a yard on the play.
Sony Michel was active in this game, but he did not touch the ball once, so it appears to be a two-man show in the New England backfield for now.
The Patriots running backs will face the Los Angeles Chargers on the road Sunday afternoon. The Chargers rank among the middle of the pack in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game at 120.5, which ranks 18th across the league. In its last time out, Los Angeles allowed 172 rushing yards to the Buffalo Bills in a 27-17 loss last weekend.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Harris and White can both be utilized as third running backs for fantasy purposes, though Harris should be favored slightly ahead of White if you’re deciding between the two Patriots backs.
