The quarterback situation in Miami is throwing a kink into fantasy football planning this week for the team’s skill players. Tua Tagovailoa is dealing with a thumb injury on his throwing hand, the one that kept him out of action last week, so we could get a second straight start from Ryan Fitzpatrick. So how does this change the fantasy outlook for tight end Mike Gesicki?
Fantasy Football analysis: Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki
Gesiciki saw five targets last week with Fitz back under center, catching two passes for 35 yards and a touchdown. Gesicki has had some big games with Fitzpatrick starting, like a 130-yard, one-touchdown game in Week 2, so his ceiling is definitely higher. But he was still a fairly consistent producer with Tagovailoa starting. In three of four games with the rookie at QB, Gesicki had at least 40 yards in three, averaging between four and five targets per game.
Whoever starts at QB, Gesicki is a decent play for most fantasy formats.
