Game status: Ben Roethlisberger is ACTIVE as expected in spite of the knee injury.
You would think that 41 passing attempts in a single game would translate into bigger fantasy numbers than what Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger produced in a Wednesday matinee against the Ravens. But he came away with just 266 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. But maybe he can put forth a decent fantasy effort this week against the Football Team.
The one downside here is that Roethlisberger has not practiced all week to due to an un-disclosed non-injury reason. He is listed as questionable for Monday, so it could turn into a roll of the dice if you have to decide on a Sunday QB vs. Roethlisberger.
Fantasy Football analysis: Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger
Last week was only the second time this season Roethlisberger has failed to throw more than one touchdown pass. It was also the second week in a row he’s thrown a pick. This is all just part of the Steelers passing game this season with its emphasis on short throws, which limits Roethlisberger’s fantasy upside.
Still, he’s a decent starter thanks in part to the incredible receiving talent around him. Washington has done pretty well against quarterbacks lately, but that includes two against the Giants, two against the Cowboys, and one game against the Bengals without Joe Burrow. I’d feel fine starting Roethlisberger this week as a backend QB1.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
If you have a comparable option playing Sunday, start them unless we get new information on Roethlisberger’s status. If you have a Monday or Tuesday alternative, you can wait and see what game day info we get on Monday for Roethlisberger.
