How to handle Tua Tagovailoa injury in Week 13 fantasy football

Tua Tagovailoa is on the Dolphins final injury report for Week 13. We break down what it means for fantasy football roster decisions.

Game status: Tagovailoa is ACTIVE for Week 13 and expected to start.

Game day update: The Dolphins expect Tua Tagovailoa to be the starter against the Bengals and he took most of the first team-reps in practice, per Ian Rapoport.

We likely will not know who the Miami Dolphins are starting at quarterback until Sunday, ahead of their game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is still dealing with a thumb injury on his throwing hand. Notably, he did get in limited work at practice this week, and the team listed him as questionable on the injury report.

Fantasy impact: Tua Tagovailoa (left thumb)

Tagovailoa sat out last week’s game against the Jets with the same injury. He initially hurt his thumb in Week 11 against the Broncos. Fitzpatrick started in his place last week, and he threw for 257 yards and a pair of touchdowns in that game.

Fitzpatrick has more fantasy upside here, in a matchup that heavily favors the Dolphins. The offense opens up more when he’s under center, and he’s been a real help for DeVante Parker’s fantasy numbers when he plays. The Dolphins run a more conservative offense with Tagovailoa, a rookie, that limits his fantasy upside.
