There’s a lot of talk on the internet this week whether or not quarterback Matthew Stafford will be under center for the Detroit Lions next season. For now, we’re more concerned with wether or not he’ll be on the field with the Lions this week against the Chicago Bears. He’s dealing with a thumb injury that has him listed as questionable on the weekly injury report.
Fantasy impact: Matthew Stafford (right thumb)
Stafford did get in limited work at all three practice sessions this week. The injury is on his throwing hand, and he was dealing with the same problem for last week’s Thanksgiving game against the Texans. Stafford did play last week, however, completing 28 of 42 passes for 295 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
That’s the only touchdown he’s thrown in his last two games. Whether or not Stafford and the Lions get a boost in their first game under interim head coach Darrell Bevell remains to be seen, but Stafford has an uphill battle without No. 1 receiver Kenny Golladay, who will be out this week. Avoid Stafford in fantasy this week.
