The Wildcats (1-2) are coming into this game off of a tough 65-62 loss to the Kansas Jayhawks earlier this week. Kentucky had a six-point lead at half, but could not stop Kansas forward Jalen Wilson, who scored 21 of his 23 points in the second half. Wilson also had 10 rebounds, including seven on the defensive side.
In regards to Kentucky, they only had one player in their starting lineup reach double figures and that freshman Brandon Boston Jr. Boston scored 12 points on 4-of-13 shooting and grabbed six rebounds. The young Wildcats did not shoot the ball well at 36.1 percent from the field and 14.3 percent from three-point range. And they had 16 turnovers, five more than the Jayhawks.
As for the Yellow Jackets (0-2), they lost 83-73 to the Mercer Bears on Nov. 27. Georgia Tech had four players reach double figures, including forward Moses Wright, who scored a game-high 20 points. But it wasn’t enough as the Bears shot 48 percent from three-point range and a sizzling 94 percent (18 attempts) from the charity stripe to get the win.
