Frank Gore suffered a concussion early in the New York Jets’ Week 13 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders and Ty Johnson came to the rescue. Johnson took over as the workhorse in the backfield with La’Mical Perine on the IR and could prove to be a viable Week 14 waiver wire pickup if Gore remains of the shelf for a while.
Johnson rushed for 104 yards and a score on 22 carries for a Jets team that entered Week 13 with the sixth-fewest rushing yards in the NFL. Johnson found success where Le’Veon Bell and Gore couldn’t and should get the bulk of the carries for Seattle moving forward unless the Seahawks decide to split his touches evenly with Josh Adams. Johnson only rostered in X percent of fantasy leagues, so he’s up for grabs everywhere. If you need to strengthen a weak running back group for the fantasy playoffs be sure to take a look at Johnson.
