Adrian Peterson: Early waiver wire option in Week 14

Adrian Peterson continues to get work in absence of D’Andre Swift, emerging as a potential early waiver wire option in Week 14.

After a two-touchdown performance last week against the Houston Texans, Detroit Lions veteran running back Adrian Peterson somehow continues to find the fountain of the youth and the end zone.

On Sunday against the Chicago Bears, Peterson was the Lions’ leading rusher with 57 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns. Peterson has now scored four touchdowns in back-to-back games. Even though Peterson doesn't possess the big play ability like he used too or the multi-purpose skills such as rookie D’Andre Swift, the 35-year-old still has value inside the red zone. And for fantasy football managers, they will take that especially from the RB2 or FLEX spots.

This season, Peterson has had seven games where he received at least 10 carries. That being said, it’s hard to envision the veteran running back continuing to see that type of workload when Swift does eventually return from injury. He’s the younger and dynamic running back that the Lions invested a second-round pick in.

At the same time, Peterson has carved a role out for him inside the red zone, which is valuable in fantasy. The 35-year-old running back is currently rostered in 47 percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues.
