The College Football Playoff Selection Committee will be under the spotlight yet again this week, as it’s Week 3 of the announcements of where things stand on ESPN. This will happen next Tuesday as well, with the announcement of the final four and all teams in the New Year’s Six coming December 20th.
We likely know the top four teams will remain Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Clemson. With the 2020 season being one of the most unusual, and the schedule will be a factor. Teams from the Big Ten and Pac-12 often have played significantly less games, so how will the committee continue factor in those with far fewer data points?
And perhaps most importantly: How will they reward Coastal Carolina for their last-minute matchup and upset of BYU? The Chanticleers were #18 as of last week’s CFP rankings.
